New Delhi: What if we tell you Indian cities' names that we really don't believe
that they are distinctive to our country? Well, this is real. It is true. Also in Ontario
Canada, Delhi, the capital of India. Likewise, there are numerous other foreign
cities with the same names as some of India's most popular cities.
Delhi (India & Canada)
India's capital, Delhi, is also known as Delhi in Ontario, Canada. Yes, you heard
us right! You heard us properly! What's interesting? Though the orthodoxy of the
two sites is identical to that of Del-high in Canada. The Heart of the Tobacco
Country is widely recognized in Delhi in Canada.
Patna (Bihar & Scotland)
The history-rich Patna was home to prominent intellectuals and astrologers in India,
such as Aryabhata, Chanakya and Panini. Patna used to be called Patliputra before.
The name of Patna in Scotland was interestingly derived from Patna itself, the Indian
city. You still don't believe us? Well, a number of sources show that William Fullarton
was the founder of the settlement of Scotland, the son of a man who served the East
Indian Company.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh & USA)
Lucknow is the third in the list! It has the same name as a small non-companying
village in Pennsylvania, USA, in the United States of America. This is a mountain
mansion of 5,500 hectares with 16 rooms. And indeed, because of its rich and
historic past, it has its name from the town of Nawabs, India's Lucknow.

The next one on this list is Kerala Kochi which, because of its wonderful beaches,
picturesque areas and more is a significant port and a renowned tourist site of the
God of God. We're here to tell you, though, that Kochi has Japan too. Kochi in Japan
was formerly a castle town situated above the sea. The name of this town was derived
from the castle of Kochi in Tosa province.
Baroda (Gujarat & USA)
Yes, in the United States too, we have Baroda. And it has a fascinating background.
In essence, in the United States the Baroda is a community constructed by Michael
Houser, which is 1,7 km2. Initially he wanted to call Pomona the village, many reports
claim. As that name was previously taken, however, CH Pindar, a railroad builder,
born in Baroda India, proposed the same name for the U.S. community. This is how
this picturesque tiny village in the USA was called Gujarat, Baroda.

came into the spotlight after Mumbai's 26/11 attacks.
Salem (Tamil Nadu & USA)
Was it ever in Tamil Nadu to Salem? In several inscriptions documented in the first and
second centuries, the city, best renowned for steel, is widely referenced. Salem also has
several tourist attractions. In fact. But, instead, Salem's The Crucible in the United States
is remembered for its horrific witch trials. Salem translates into Hebrew literally as "peace,"
and well, the witch trials indicate a time of calm.
Dhaka (Bihar & Bangladesh)
All right, so this is a twist. Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, originally part of East Pakistan,
has its name in India. Full of rich history, Dhaka shares in diverse written works the tragic
narrative of the split. And we have a place in Bihar in India with the same name. This location
plays an important function for the uninitiated in the Vidhan Sabha electoral district.
Thane (Maharashtra & Australia)
Thane in Maharashtra is a place with gorgeous beaches, busy restaurants and scenic sites.
Australia has had a Thane in the past, too. This countryside community is located far from
the larger cities in the South Downs region of Queensland.
